A shared history

A major centenary

The Mediterranean League was founded on 10 August 1919, just a few weeks after the creation of the FFFA – the precursor of the FFF – and is considered the birthplace of professionalism in football. Georges Bayrou, the President of FC Sète (known as FC Cette at the time), played a vital role during the 1930s, alongside another “Cettois”, librettist and journalist Emmanuel Gambardella, whose name became synonymous with the Coupe de France Espoirs. Today, the league still stands out, boasting 120,000 licensees and 3 professional clubs.

From research to printing

Arkhênum supported the league throughout this project, researching the internal and external archives, co-writing, providing artistic direction, modelling and print preparation, followed by the printing and delivery of the final book. A total of 2,000 copies were printed, some of which were presented to the region’s clubs and  Mediterranean football personalities.

QUOTE
“Co-writing the book with Arkhênum made me realise how much influence the Mediterranean Football League has had on French football through its representatives and clubs.”
